  Inspired by her artist-husband Manu Parekh and artists such as Paul Klee and Joan Miró, Parekh began painting in Her paintings are unplanned, unfolding like a story where she adapts each work to the scale it demands and developing from a single point into vast narratives. The first thing you notice about Madhvi Parekh is her confidence in herself. While most artists choose to speak in the gallery, she and Manu Parekh invite you into their home at Chittaranjan Park in Delhi. Manu Parekh is one of the most celebrated modernist artists in the history of Indian art, and his early works about Banaras play a compelling role in the growth of the Modernist school. There are four of Parekh’s sketchbooks kept in one of the smaller rooms at Delhi’s National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA). The gallery is presently hosting an exhibition where the artist’s works (paintings and sculptures), spanning six decades of his practice, are displayed.
